There are a few weird tree species around where I live... Picture of a tree leaf next to my foot, to get an idea of the size. The trunk of the tree is not even thick, just about as thick as my leg... Weird. Posted by sebatl at November 21, 2004 07:14 PM

I think what you have there is "Cucumber Magnolia".
Check Google Images for this term and see if the images fit the leaf at your feet.
Yup, that is a rather tropical-looking leaf, for sure!
